Red de Excelencia Consolider

Scientific excellence is the goal of all participating groups. The scientific collaborations developed within the framework of the groups participating in the network will result, as it has been to date, high-impact scientific publications and participation in international projects.

In Spain it is increasing the number of industries to become interested in the field of Genomics and Microbial Metagenomic. A clear example is the international exploitation of the international patent obtained by Dr. Alex Mira along Microgen project by the private company “AB-Biotics”. This is a national leader in the field of probiotics and also putting different clinical services determining the human microbiome. Together, there are conducting clinical trials with the patented bacterial strain Streptococcus dentisani. Also, Dr. Nicolas Toro group has also registered a patent for a novel cloning method and are currently looking for partners for its development.

We have contacted a number of companies or industries that have expressed interest in participating in the network and would be interested in research results that different groups can be obtained, as in the case of Roche, or Kin Lacer. With some research groups they are already working, as in the case of AB-Biotics, Colgate or Lácer.

Companies interested in the analysis of intestinal metagenome and its relationship to diet and health of the animals:

– Skretting Aquaculture Research Centre (Norway). Global center of research (Producer worldwide leader in high performance feed for fish and crustaceans).

-Biomar A.S. (Denmark) is one of the world’s leading producers in high performance feed for fish. Its main objective is to offer the creation of innovative power solutions for the global development of aquaculture.

– Biotechvana (Spain) interested in new bacterial genes or animals of commercial interest, specializing in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology that will expand its biotechnology business interests.
