The group of serious infection IIS la Fe, is led by Dr. Javier Pemán, is a multidisciplinary group that integrates researchers and clinicians from different specialties.
One of the priority line of the group is headed by Dra. Mª Ángeles Tormo whose interests are focused on the study of clinical strains of Staphylococcus spp, one of the major pathogens that cause nosocomial infections. Within this line group focuses on the characterization of Mobile Genetic Elements (pathogenicity islands and bacteriophages) and the virulence factors that they possess, as well as the study of biofilm -forming ability of these strains.
